Spring is coming

With warm weather in the forecast I am getting excited for open water walleye fishing on Oneida Lake. After a very cold winter I am looking forward to casting and trolling for limits of delicious walleye.

As the current season winds down I am  organizing new tackle and spooling up my reels with fresh line. It won’t be long and the May 1st opening day will be here.

As the opener approaches dates are starting to fill up. If you want to book a trip and have limited availability it is best to book early and make sure you get the dates you need.

Last year there were many days of sorting through “shorts” while putting together limits of keepers. This was the story across the lake as there were just so many 14 inch fish. Those fish should have grown that extra inch and I am expecting great fishing this season.

It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced walleye fisherman looking to learn a new technique or have never fished for walleye and just want to have a fun day on the water. I can put together an enjoyable trip for any level of experience. I also can accommodate larger parties with a multiple boat trip.

As stated above, prime dates are starting to fill so call soon to book a trip you won’t forget. Oneida Lake walleye fishing is going to be great this year.

Oneida Lake walleye fishing is HOT

Today was another day of running just 4 rods and struggling to keep them in the water. I am more than capable of running more rods but when the bite is this hot there is no need.

Four leadcore setups with crankbaits has been my go to trolling spread. Most days it’s tough to even get all four out as I am netting and unhooking fish as we are setting the rods.

If you want in on this awesome fall walleye fishing call soon to set up a trip.

Another beautiful fall day on Oneida. Today I was the second boat for Karl Elsner and Eye Catching Charters.

On board with me was Sergie and Tania, from Connecticut.
Same story as the last few weeks, leadcore and cranks kept them chasing rods all morning.

In the end they took a mess of walleyes back to Connecticut.

Thanks again guys, you were awsome.
Time is winding down on the season so get a trip booked soon.

After being off the lake for 2 weeks while on vacation, it was nice to see nothing has changed.

Adam and Dan were treated to the typical Oneida lake fall bite.
As usual leadcore and stickbaits was the ticket. For now the fish are still deep. With water temps in the mid 50s, it won’t be long and they will move shallow and the jig bite will turn on.

I still have openings and will be fishing weather permitting  for the next month.

Fall is here. I say it every year but this is my favorite time of year. The walleye start feeding heavy this time of year and the bite is normally fast and furious.

These pictures tell the story. Full boards and smiles are the regular. If you want in on some great walleye fishing give me a call.

Sorry for the lack of reports on the website. It has been a busy summer and the fishing has been great. Don’t forget to follow Full Tank Charters on Facebook for more frequent reports.

The walleye fishing on Oneida Lake is in full swing. We are getting fishing trolling, jigging and throwing jerk baits in the weeds. It is fishing and is always unpredictable but limits have been hitting the cutting board almost daily. If you want to learn how to catch walleye on Oneida Lake or just have a relaxing day putting some fish in the freezer give me a call to set up a trip.

As we move into late summer I am already thinking about fall. This is my favorite time to troll crank baits as the walleye key in on shad and put the feed bag on before winter. Doubles and even triples are not uncommon. Dates have been filling up further and further out so call to lock in a trip today.

Here are some photos of recent catches.

They say a picture is worth 1000 words.  If that’s the case this post is worth a lot of words. These pictures tell the story for sure and that story is that the Fall bite is on.

If you want to get in the action, call now to get a remaining date. They are booking up quick. This is a great chance to put some fish in the freezer before the lake freezes.

Today’s trip brought Mike and Mike to Oneida Lake in search of walleye. With 3 Mike’s on the boat we headed out to do some walleye fishing.

The plan was to cast today. However, strong winds had us thinking trolling was the better option. Turns our our thoughts were spot on. As soon as the baits were in the water, the fish started coming over the side.

At the end of the trip, we had lots of smiles and a boat limit of nice walleye. As the fall pattern sets up these fish just want to eat. This is a great time for both trolling and casting. Call to lock in a date for a fall walleye fishing trip.

Walleye fishing on Oneida Lake has been good to great depending on the day. Smiling customers holding racks of nice fish is my favorite way to end the day.

Casting in the weeds is starting to produce fish. However, trolling in the depths is still the most consistent way to put fish in the box. Worm harnesses on the bottom have been the key to full livewells.

As the summer continues, the fish will set up different patterns. As the patterns change, I will continue to provide updated reports here.

If you want to get in on the action, give me a call and book a trip today.

Today was one of those days that makes you appreciate the easy days. The water was a bit rough and the fish were not very cooperative.

Even given less than ideal conditions we had a good time and caught some nice fish. Tough to complain when everyone is smiling and gets to put fish in the boat.

Trolling worm harnesses is still productive.  I have open dates if you want to get out walleye fishing on Oneida Lake. Multiple boat trips available as well.
