A Great Weekend On Oneida Lake Walleye Fishing

I had a great weekend fishing with the Evan’s. David, Chrissy and Jaxon had such a good time catching walleyes on Saturday that they decided to go again on Sunday. Sunday was a carbon copy of Saturday with another limit coming in the boat. What a great weekend spent with a great family. Trolling crankbaits was the ticket as it often is this time of year. There is still time to get in on the awesome fall fishing. Give me a call to set up a trip.

Oneida Lake Fishing Report 8/6/19

It has been a busy few days. Sunday I fished the Oneida Lake Team Walleye Tournament. We had great expectations going into the tournament as our prefishing was excellent. Come Sunday we fell a little short finishing 9th out of 28 teams. We boated at least 30 to 40 keeper walleyes just couldn’t get one more big one that we needed to be in the money.

Yesterday I fished the Monday night bass tournament with Wayne. We started out fishing largemouth bass but when we found a school of good smallies tactics changed quickly. Out 3 fish bag was 9.87 pounds landing is in 2nd place out of 21 teams.

Today I was back after walleye for a 4 hour charter. It was another day of putting an easy limit in the boat for my guests. Jim and Frieda were great. Thank you both for the fun morning.

Trolling worm harnesses has been absolutely on fire the past couple of weeks.

If you want to get out on Oneida Lake and put some walleyes in your freezer give me a call. I even clean your fish at the end of the trip if you want.

Oneida Lake Report 7/23/19

I had a 4 hour charter Tuesday. We started off trolling and caught a couple but the floating weeds were too much to deal with. Constantly getting caught on our lines.

We needed to do something different.
So off to casting a weed bed where the pickerel and eyes were hungry.

Mason and Kloe finished off there limits casting along the weed edges. When the day ended Mason had caught his personal best walleye and Kloe her first walleyes ever.

Walleye fishing on Oneida lake is still hot hot hot. If you want to get in on the action give me a call. I will be on the water most of the up coming week and am available for trips.

I accommodate you @ Full Tank Charters

When you call to book a trip I will do everything I can to accommodate your needs. I will always tell you the truth about the ideal times, conditions, or techniques. That being said I am willing to do what needs to be done to get you on the water.

Yesterday was a perfect example of this. Dominick, Kyle and Guy wanted to go walleye fishing and 11 to 3 was when they were available. As you probably know this is not the prime time for fishing not only on Onieda but as a general rule everywhere.

Dom has a tough time getting around as he uses a scooter. We got him into the boat and ready for a great day of high noon fishing.

The bite was tough as expected but we still managed a couple limits and lots of smiles. Fish were taken trolling worm harnesses in 35 feet of water.

Want to get out walleye fishing but your schedule isn’t ideal? Give me a call. I will find a time slot that works for you and we will put some fish in the boat.

Oneida Lake fishing report 7/2/19

Fishing on Oneida Lake right now is nothing short of amazing. Limits after limits as of lately.  Customers have been nothing but smiles as they land fish after fish.

The trolling bite has definitely picked up as we are starting to see more fish suspended. With that trolling has been our main focus the past few trips. That being said plenty of fish are still being taken on blade baits and bucktail jigs. As I stated the fishing is awesome right now.  If you want to get in on the action give me a call and book a trip today.

Oneida Lake fishing report 5/15/19

I fished Oneida lake yesterday. Walleye fishing was tough and we worked for the 8 we landed.

Fish came in 26 to 38 feet of water on blade baits. The best colors were gold, purple and blue/chrome.

The walleye were mixed in with schools of perch. It was obvious they were feeding heavily on perch as they were puking them up in the livewell.

The fishing should improve as the weather finally starts to warm over the next few weeks. I will be out there this weekend and will post another report Sunday or Monday.

Give me a call if you want to get out on Oneida Lake walleye fishing.

Opening weekend Oneida Lake fishing report

With opening weekend behind us I figured I would give a little report on how we did. Saturday was the better day for sure.  We located  fish in 17 to 30 feet of water putting 18 in the net before 10:30.  Blade baits were the go to lure.

Sunday was a different story.  We worked hard for them and found some fish in 17 feet of water.  Again it was all on blade baits with the hot colors being white and black and gold.

Overall, not a bad weekend. After talking to many other anglers and guides everyone seemed to find a similar pattern of the fishing slowing down on Sunday.  I will continue to post fishing reports through out the summer along with some tips and techniques so make sure to stop by the site regularly.

If you want to get out on the water give me a call and set up a trip.

Walleye Season is Almost Here

As April cruises by my favorite time of year quickly approaches. The first Saturday in May you will be able to find the Ranger somewhere on Oneida Lake.

That being said I have been busy getting everything ready. Rods have new line. Lures organized. New spinner rigs and buck tail jigs are tied. I had the pleasure of helping a friend out the other day with a brown trout trip on Lake Ontario. This was a great chance to test run all the gear before walleye season gets here.

The Salmon River was blown out and my friend Wayne Weber (Wayne-o’s Guide Service) asked if I could give him a had putting his clients on a few fish. We didn’t just put them on a few we had a great day hooking around 18 and landing 13. Twelve browns and one smallmouth bass. The first fish was hooked before we had our third rod in the water. Our three guests were nothing but smiles all day.

Walleye fishing on Oneida lake is looking to be very good this season. The returns to the hatchery were impressive to say the least. The start of the season should see many fish being caught near the creek mouths as the cold weather is just starting to let go now. This is a great time of year to troll crankbaits around those creek mouths. This allows you to cover water until you locate a good area. Once you find fish you can troll back and forth over them offering a variety of baits at the same time.
